Bachelor of General Studies Online
The requirements for the BGS degree are as follows:
I. University Studies Requirements (General Education)
48 hours -
course listing and descriptions (becomes 51 hours starting catalog
Fall 2008)
II. Major Requirements
30 hours at 300-500 level (select any) -
course listing
and descriptions (becomes 39 hours starting catalog Fall 2008)
III. General Requirements for Graduation
- Residency with Southeast - at least 30 Southeast hours must be taken at
the main campus, regional campuses, satellite locations or online
- Current residency with Southeast - 12 of the final 18 hours for your
degree must be awarded from Southeast
- Grade Point Average at Southeast: 2.0 minimum required
- Grade Point Average Cumulative: 2.0 minimum required
- Writing Proficiency - WP003 with passing score required
- California Critical Thinking Exam (CCTST)
- CL001-CL004 Career Linkage checkpoints (for students with catalog years of
Fall 2005 or later)
- Special note: a student cannot take more than 30 hours in the College
of Business while seeking this degree.
IV. Other Requirements
- TOTAL hours required: 120 degree hours minimum
- ALL required developmental courses must be completed.
BGS students are additionally permitted to declare minors as listed in the
University Bulletin. Please note that a minor constitutes a specific list
of courses within one discipline, and minor will be limited due to online
availability.
