Admission:  Undergraduate and Graduate Students


Undergraduate Admission:

First time students.  If you have never attended Southeast Missouri State University before and have less than 24 credit hours that will transfer, you're considered a new freshman student.

  1. Complete the online application form with one-time, nonrefundable $25 fee.
  2. Submit ACT/SAT scores.  (If you're 21 years of age or older, you may use an ASSET score.)
  3. Request official transcripts be sent from your high school and any other colleges or universities you have attended be sent to the Southeast Admissions Office.
  4. Attend First Step (new student orientation).  If you are taking a combination of online and face-to-face (on-campus) courses, you'll attend First Step at the Cape Girardeau campus.  If you are pursuing an online degree program, an online alternative will be provided.

Transfer Students.  If you have completed 24 or more credit hours to transfer to Southeast with a GPA of 2.0 or better, you're considered a regular transfer student.

  1. Complete the online application form with one-time, nonrefundable $25 fee.
  2. Request official transcripts be sent by all colleges and universities you have attended to Southeast Admissions Office.
  3. When you are notified of acceptance, an academic advisor will be assigned to you.  You must contact your academic advisor before registering for classes.

Graduate Admission:

Degree Seeking StudentIf you've completed a Baccalaureate degree with a 2.5 GPA or better and have met the requirements for the specific graduate degree program, here's the steps to apply to graduate school at Southeast.

  1. Complete the online application form with one-time, nonrefundable $25 fee ($100 fee for international student applicants).
  2. Request official college transcripts be sent to Southeast Graduate Office.
  3. Submit standardized test score (if applicable).
  4. Letters of Recommendation (if applicable).
  5. Apply for financial aid (if applicable).
  6. Any other processes required by specific graduate degree program

Non-Degree Seeking Graduate StudentIf you do not want to pursue a graduate degree at Southeast and are eligible to take graduate courses, complete the Non-Degree Seeking Form.
