How Can I Have a Discussion Online?

Usually in a classroom, everyone has a chance to interact with everyone else. For the classes that have asynchronous (this means that everyone is doing the same thing, just not during the same time in the day) elements, you have the opportunity to interact with your classmates by posting discussions. Basically, here at Southeast Online, we use a type of bulletin board to facilitate this communication.

These discussions are facilitated by OIS Forum; and sometimes are called the "Class Forum," other times "Discussions," and still other times the "Class Bulletin Board." In all cases, this is the place where students and the professors can interact by "posting" messages to each other, and responding to these "posts."

A "post" is simply your typed discussion - it's what one person has to say, or ask, about that topic. You can also respond to another person's post, just as you would respond to them in  person...only it's in text format.

Try posting to the bulletin board (or click on the button above titled "Bulletin Board") and letting me know why you would like to take an online course through Southeast Online. When you are finished viewing the tutorial, hit the back button on the navigation bar to return to this page.
