How Will I Take a Test Online?

Whether it is a practice test, quiz, or actual exam, this is the big one that students usually worry about the most. Don't let taking  online exams scare you, it's just like taking a course in any other class.  You might have multiple choice, true/false, short answer, essay or a combination - the major difference is your computer is now your "pen" and "paper."

Downloading the UTest Broweser is simple and is the only step that may require a different browser than the one usually used in other aspects of the class. Basically, assessment comes in two ways: unsecured and secured. In both cases, a student ends up in the same 'place' in the web; however, they get to that place by different means.

Unsecured tests, quizzes, and practice quizzes can be taken online through whichever browser you normally use (e.g., Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) as long as javascript and cookies are turned on for that browser and Macromedia Flash player is installed. Click here to go to Macromedia to get the Flash player.

Secured tests use the UTest Secure Browser (click here for download and installation instructions).

Once the UTest Secure Browser is installed, you would enter their class website, and continue on to take the test.

To see an animated tutorial, click here.  When you are finished viewing the tutorial, hit the back button on the navigation bar to return to this page.
Click here to see an example (or click on the button above titled "Tests & Quizzes").
If you would like to try taking a secured test. Click here for very short 5 question quiz.

Move on to the next section of the class (How do I check my grades).
